Síle grew up in Kenmare, County Kerry, and developed a passion
for exploring the region's natural and historical landscapes
from an early age. After studying Geography at University
College Cork, she initially worked as a secondary school teacher
but became increasingly drawn to outdoor education and heritage
tourism.
In 2010, she began documenting walking routes across Munster,
eventually specializing in trails suitable for walkers with
mobility considerations. Over the past decade, she's tested
hundreds of kilometres of paths, gathering detailed information
about terrain difficulty, accessibility features, and scenic
viewpoints—particularly around Ross Castle and Lough Leane.
Her approach is rooted in firsthand experience rather than
assumptions. She walks every route multiple times across
different seasons to understand how conditions affect
accessibility. Síle believes that age shouldn't limit access to
Ireland's most beautiful landscapes, and her work at yukvar
Ltd focuses on creating practical, detailed guides that empower
pensioners to explore confidently.
She's a member of the Irish Ramblers and regularly contributes
to accessibility forums for older outdoor enthusiasts.
